The Pregnant Runner

Welcome to The Pregnant Runner

Years back, pregnant with my first child, there was not a lot of information available on the topic of running while pregnant.  Even as a life long runner, I was nervous about any potential harm continuing to run would have on my developing bambino.  I wanted to run, but mostly I wanted to make sure baby was healthy.

Doctors gave me the standard answer back then.  Stop running, walk instead and keep your heart rate below some number so low that I was reaching my max just walking up the stairs.  After a couple months I wasn't running anymore.

Fast forward 6 years later and I was pregnant again with baby number two.  Doctors knew more, and I was not restricted to a certain heart rate and actually encouraged to continue running at a modest level.  But there still wasn't a whole lot of information available to us runners with babies on board.

And that's how this site was birthed.  I have researched and accumulated loads of info into one website.  This is a place where you can find the latest info on running while pregnant, post baby running and fitting running into your life as a mom.

I am a mom, runner, coach and freelance writer.  I've been running for 30 years (since before I was born).  You are welcome to find out more about me at TheRunningCoach.com.
